Nalco Researcher Is Keynote Speaker at Midwest AIChE Conference

Hundreds of engineers and scientists are gathering in Chicago on November 10-11 for the 2011 Midwest AIChE (American Institute of Chemical Engineers) Conference being held at the University of Illinois’ Chicago campus. Nalco is a Silver Sponsor of the event.

Dr. Narasimha Rao, Nalco Division Vice President of R & D, Automation and Innovation, will kick off the second day of the event with a keynote address titled “Improving Energy Efficiency in Industrial Use: Why Water Matters.” Dr. Rao’s presentation will discuss the role of water as a heat transfer medium in industry and the importance of water management in also managing energy.

The annual conference provides AIChE members the opportunity to learn about new technologies. This year's theme, "Energy is Everything - Game Changers", covers various topics geared toward energy.
The conference’s technical program includes sessions devoted to refining, natural gas, food in Chicago, water safety, bio-technology and energy success stories.

Friday afternoon features a panel on Water Energy Issues that is chaired by Greg Corda, Senior Innovations Manager at Nalco. This session will review ways industry is responding to water and energy needs with new innovations and technologies to ensure a more efficient, sustainable use of both for the future. One of the panel presenters is Mitch Morgan, a Nalco Principal Consultant, speaking on the use of thermodynamic modeling to manage energy demand and supply.

The AIChE is the world's leading organization for chemical engineering professionals, with more than 40,000 members from more than 90 countries. More information on the Midwest Conference is available at http://midwestregional.aiche.org.
